Another reason we need plain film X-rays of patients is that we must evaluate sclerosis and integrity of the bony endplates. Up until now, no definitive tool could successfully restore vascularity to subchondral bone and endplate tissue. The science clearly shows that without a healthy endplate you cannot have a healthy disc.
