Representing Australia at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympics was something I’ll never forget – especially as cycling’s been passed down through my family for generations. Within weeks, I was in pain every day. It took 18 months to get a diagnosis: rheumatoid arthritis. That’s a long time to be in pain without answers.

The findings indicate that people with co-occurring chronic pain and OUD often do not receive early or any nonpharmacologic pain therapies as recommended by practice guidelinestargeted interventions (eg, insurance policy, provider, and patient education) are needed to ensure equitable access to guideline-recommended pain therapies."
